Happy Tuesday folks!
Well after starting this one back in July (has it really been that long?????) I finally managed to finish off Lizze Kate's Mystery Halloween sampler after a full day of stitching on Sunday and a bit of work on Monday evening as well.
(Sorry for the poor lighting! I leave when it's dark and come home in the dark so there's not much in the way of options except a fully lit room!)

Happy Dance Time :) |
Close up of the last section I've been working on! |
A first time for everything! This is my first time putting charms/beads on a project! |
Surprisingly I love the Pumpkin Head Cat! |
I loved working on this project, despite having to frog my way into a oblivion a couple of times... did I mention I hate frogging!? I don't mind a little bit of frogging... as it's virtually impossible to cross stitch without making a mistake at least once. But it seemed like everytime I turned around I was either off a stitch or a row... which left me contemplating whether or not I was awake while stitching at allllll. But I made it through and have compensated for my little boo boos in some areas rather than having to rip out a hundred stitches - I think I'd cry if I had to do that.
Knowing I was close to a finish drove me to my stock pile of stash. I have tons of charts now and about 4-5 extra that are kitted up and ready for the hoop.
Speaking of stash, the mailman finallllly delivered this on Friday:
This is what I bought with the Gift Card I got from Anne over at Doll's Musings after winning her blogoversary giveaway. It's Quaker Christmas II - Songs of the Season and it has been on my wishlist forever!!!!! I remember I wanted to buy it the first time I saw it BUT with the called for floss it was always too expensive. WELL! as soon as I found out I won the gift card I knew EXACTLY what I was going to spend it on. Thanks again Anne!
So what next I wonder???? I'm a little torn between starting something new or digging out that one WIP that just doesn't seem to want to get done... partly because it's soooooo hard. Do you guys remember this one?
Yup that's 'Oh Christmas Tree' by Lavender and Lace. This is the WIP that kicked off my cross stitching craze again and was the subject of my first post EVER! Just looked, April 8, 2012 guys.... APRIL! JUMPIN'S! I know I shouldn't discriminate, but it's stitched on aida... and I just don't love it anymore. If there's one thing that blogland got me into was stitching on linen and evenweave - which I didn't even know was possible beforehand (I was strictly aida alllllll the way). This chart also has tons of confetti stitching... thanks to the tree. Sure it gives lots of dimension to the tree BUT it takes forever, which is painful.
And while we're on the Christmas note... it's only 55 Days 'til Christmas! Let the hysteria begin! hehe
Have a great week everyone!
Melissa
PS: Thinking of our Neighbours to the South today! My thoughts and prayers are with everyone having to deal with the monstrosity that is Sandy!
Great job on Very Scary.
ReplyDeleteIf you really don't like the L&L piece anymore, you could just get rid of it. I know that sounds crazy, but I've actually done it twice with projects I hated and that really weighed on me. It felt good once it was done, and I was able to move on to something I really enjoyed. (Once it was to switch fabrics, like in your case.)
Well done for finishing this lovely Halloween design! It is fantastic! I love your new stash but it would look great too to see that Christmas one done!!! It looks sooo pretty & refined... Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll keep us updated :D
ReplyDeleteYour finish looks great! Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of your new stash.
Love the Halloween Sampler finish, Melissa! L&L designs are so lovely, but they do take a massive amount of time to stitch. With Marilyn's passing, I have decided to at least stitch the two angel designs I have...but I definitely won't be stitching them on Aida :o)
ReplyDeleteHave we become linen snobs, LOL??
Thanks for reminding us how many days until Christmas!! Been watching the devestation that Sandy has brought, frightening.
ReplyDeleteGreat spooky finish!!
ReplyDeleteLove what you purchased with your gift from Anne. This is a truly stunning piece when stitched ~ looking forward to seeing your progress.
Your Halloween finish looks great! Can't wait to see what you start next. :D
ReplyDeleteI love your Very Scary! The L&L is very pretty, but I know what you mean about not liking the fabric you've started something on, as I've got the same problem with a couple of WIPs.
ReplyDelete:(
The LK finish is sppoktacular
ReplyDeleteI have a couple old WIP's on Aida and I do someday plan on finishing them...someday, lol
Congrats on the finish! It looks spooky! :) I can't wait to see your progress on the little girl and tree!

big hugs xxx
Congrats of the finish Melissa. What a great piece. You did an awesome job. Love your new stash.
ReplyDeleteHang in there with your aida piece. It will be gorgeous when done.
Linda
Stitching is supposed to be fun, if you don't think you are going to enjoy it then work on something else, you only end up hating it!
ReplyDeleteOr perhaps tell yourself that you will do 100 stitches here and there on it.
I love your finished project - its very cute!
Nice finish. You could try stitching on Oh Christmas Tree till you get fed up or stressed and then move on to something else.
ReplyDeleteGreat halloween finish! Lots of fun things to see in the design and great stitching too. I must admit that I have the greens over your Christmas Quaker :)
ReplyDeleteGreat finish. So understand the love for Linen and Evenweave - especially for the quarter stitches....
ReplyDeleteLoved reading all about your Frogging. Made it real.
Love your LK finish!
ReplyDeletehappy stitching...
Congrats on the LK Halloween finish! As for the L&L on aida... I am torn, because I have a few pieces of hand-dyed aida specifically for certain pieces in my stash, and I hate to NOT use the fabric... but I have been introduced to linen also, and use that pretty exclusively! So, in the interests of not wasting my hard-earned money, I tell myself I will use it... Then as another year draws to a close and I STILL haven't used it, I tell myself I will do ornaments on it... but so far, nothing done on it! And then, on the other hand, I have thrown out at least three projects this year alone--no, four...because I was not enjoying them! I guess I am just fickle! Ha! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOoo, congrats on the timely Halloween finish and your sparkly new stash! :D I haven't become a linen stitcher yet. Maybe it's only a matter of time...
ReplyDeleteAnd nope, I refuse to acknowledge Christmas until after we get through Thanksgiving. I can only handle one holiday at at time, lol!
Congrats on your halloween finish. It looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOOooooo I love the christmas pattern and your winnings was well spent.
You made nice progress on L&L. Will you continue on it although you don't like the fabby?
Looking forward to seeing more of your progress on it or should you start over on it.
Jackie
Congratulations on a wonderful finish!!
ReplyDeleteEither Christmas project should put you in the holiday mood!
Congrats on your finish -
ReplyDeleteI'm liking that Christmas tree WIP!
Congrats on your finish! It looks great and just in time for Halloween :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteLovely Hallowe'en finish.
I know I would never have the patience to tackle a L&L design, but maybe you could just work on it a little bit at a timje between other projects
I love your Halloween finish. I really wish I had signed up for this when it was released.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!!!
This is my favourite Halloween piece by L*K. It looks fantastic and I love all the little details on it. Great finish!
